30 Years Since the Uncovering of the Relics of St. Maximus the Greek

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos celebrated with special reverence the feast dedicated to St. Maximus the Greek and the 30th anniversary of the uncovering of his holy relics in 1996 at the Trinity–Sergius Lavra.

The festive Divine Liturgy was led by the rector of the parish, Archpriest Maksim.
The service was adorned by the heartfelt singing of the parish choir. During the Liturgy, a relic of St. Maximus the Greek was present in the church.

After the Divine Liturgy, a solemn Cross Procession took place, and at the memorial Cross a moleben to St. Maximus was served with a newly painted icon created specifically for the church’s iconostasis in honor of this commemorative date.

The festive day concluded with a meal lovingly prepared by the Sisterhood and Brotherhood. Fr. Maksim also gave a lecture-discussion about St. Maximus the Greek.

The day before, on the last Sunday of June, a family bicycle ride dedicated to St. Maximus was held.
We present a photo report of the event.
