Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Emergency Service Officers

Reverend Fr. Maxim, Rector of Our Lady Of Smolensk Russian Orthodox Church, accompanied by parishioners, visited emergency service officers; the policemen, paramedics and firefighters that are on duty on a 24/7 basis. On behalf of our Orthodox church, the priest wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, then cordially thanked them for their hard work and selfless dedication to the community, treating them to lunch and light refreshments.

During some friendly conversations with the representatives of the York Regional Police, Gerogina Fire and Emergency Services, and York Region Paramedic Service, Rev. Fr. Maxim introduced the Church and the Russian community as well as upcoming events. The police, paramedics and firefighters warmly thanked the parishioners for their surprise visit.

This event was held for the first time, and we are planning to do it again twice a year with the help of God – on Easter and on Christmas.
